There were places where I thought 'Well.that wasn't neseccary' but it didn't detract from the value of the reading. Lauren's narrative arc seems to me as clean and so very refined. The book is written in first person, yet Lauren writes in a way that I know what other characters are feeling just by the way she describes the situation.Īs for plot, it is no Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe but it comes in close second. She uses imagery to not only make her audience see what's happening to Tanner but to feel what Tanner feels and Sebastian as well. Christina Lauren's writing in this book not only employs imagery for the sake of being descriptive but for the sake of giving these characters life. I genuinely enjoyed reading Autoboyography and found it impossible to put down at any point. With Sebastian now being a mentor in class it isn't long before Tanner develops feelings for the religious and caring Sebastian Brother. It is here where Tanner meets Sebastian Brother, previous Seminar student whose book is going to be published and son of the LDS Bishop. However, since their move to the highly religious, highly Mormon (or LDS) part of Utah, Tanner has had to go back into the closet and act as if he were straight, even to his best friend, Autumn.ĭuring his last semester at Provo High, his friend Autumn encourages Tanner to join the highly regarded and highly respected course known as 'the Seminar' in which students write an entire book throughout the semester. Before moving to Utah, he was out and proud about his bisexuality and his accepting parents allowed him to express his sexuality openly. Tanner Scott is a senior at Provo High School in Utah who just can't wait but to move back home to California.

The book has a moderate length of 404 pages but that didn't stop me from finishing the whole thing in an entire day! While looking to pick which book to read after Albertalli's amazing novel, I was drawn to 'Autoboyography' by Christina Lauren. the Homosapien's Agenda' being made into 'Love, Simon' had me recently going down the LGBT section of my local bookstore.
